Strong is the new skinny
OVERALL RATING
The majority of my female clients seem to relate there fitness goals to a weight on the scale. This seriously makes me want to bang my head against a concrete wall!! Why as women have we convinced ourselves that getting back down to our high school weight, pre-pregnancy weight or whatever specified "you're so awesome weight" (which, most of the time is a unrealistic weight) =success?? We also seem to think that a 1200 calorie diet with hours of cardio will lead to the body of our dreams. WRONGO!! And good luck to you if you think that is the way.. Food is FUEL! I'm over here eating between 2500-2800 calories lovin' life!!!! Back to the whole scale/weight "requirements" I have to admit this was a huge struggle of mine too! I think it's programmed into our heads at a young age, that we have to be thin!! So.. Question? Do you want more body fat with a lower "scale" weight. Or more muscle with a higher scale weight. It's definitely a personal choice, but I think the second option sounds much better. It also goes to show that the scale doesn't always measure up!!! In one year, I've gone from my lowest I've been since becoming a mom 132 "wow" to 143. OMG! I have let myself go! Ha, quite opposite! I have less body fat and wear a smaller pant size than I did in high school!! Say, what!!!?? Yes, it is true muscle does weigh more than fat.. Clearly a scale is a tool to aid in making sure you are making progress, but it should NOT be turned into the main focus of your fitness or weight loss journey. Being a "specific" weight, size or shape does not equal SUCCESS! It's about feeling strong and healthy inside and out and that can come in many different shapes, sizes and measurements!! Celebrate and enjoy your health! Here's to being Strong!
