Facebook post

I was recently nominated to post a 'fresh face' photo for the Facebook phenomenon of females celebrating their natural beauty. Without trying to be difficult, I chose to post this instead because my perception of beauty has nothing to with whether your fresh faced or makeup caked. I do not believe that one's beauty should ever be defined by the way others perceive us to appear, however difficult this may be for us to accept- ME included! Last night I fell deep into my own insecurities of just this as I allowed someone whose 5 minute ignorant perceptions of the physical me consumed what it is that makes me the beautiful me. I took his perception and crawled into the little ball I once had as a youth when I allowed the reflection of Beauty to be set through the eyes of others. And just when I could feel the tears well it all changed as my 'beautiful fresh faced soul of friend' took my hand and said 'he has no idea what you truly look like as your allowing him to not see the most important weapons that make you beautiful Jill... Your smile, your laugh, your heart. Don't let him win'. So although I think all those who have posted are beyond beautiful, I choose not post a 'fresh faced photo' as I need to remind myself that we are a direct reflection of our OWN internal perceptions, not simply how we look after we have washed our face....
