Making Gainz! The forgotten rule
OVERALL RATING
One of the ways I've improved my muscle gains is by not changing my routine so much. Adding variety to your fitness plan is good, but when you're focus is muscle growth, "progressive overload" is a key player. The term "muscle confusion" has a lot of people confused thinking that if you do the same exercises week after week your body will get adapt to the exercise and not grow. Nothing can be further from the truth. Look at some of the great bodybuilders of all time (Arnold, Ronnie, Lee, Franco, Dorian, Phil, etc.) They got there performing bench presses, squats, rows, etc. What did they do for years on end? Bench presses, squats, rows, etc. The key is to keep a record each week of the same exercises you did last week and the week before and so on. Make sure you are "progressively overloading" the amount of weight you are lifting keeping everything else equal. Mental notes are not reliable enough.
