I had to pull out the flash mask for this pic. As we are looking at a meta analysis on how cycling and running affect our fitness goals. The reason we add cardio into our training, may not be the same for each individual. Some might be doing it for the overall health benefits it provides, others might be using it as a tool for weight loss. But both cycling and running affect our muscle growth differently.
