One of the most important aspects to an aesthetic look is the coveted V-Taper. This look is achieved by a combination of well developed lats and and a small waist. To get a small waist, you have to decrease your body fat percentage. There is no way around that. How small your waist can get will also be determined by your genetics. Avoid exercises like side bends. Especially weighted side bends. If you already have a larger waist, side bends can over develop the oblique muscles, which can widen the waist. This is even worse if you are like me and very love handle prone. A large wide back can be achieved by doing wide grip pulling exercises such as wide grip chin ups, wide grip lat pull downs, and bent over rows etc.
