For the last 4-something months I haven't been keeping track of my calories whatsoever, but I have been keeping my meal proportions consistent. However, these last two months I've been eating according to how my body feels. Some days I'll eat less, other days I'll eat more. This depends on what I've trained on that specific day -- squats, deads, bench, etc. On my heavy days I would eat more as opposed to accessory days.
