In January 2012 my father passed away. I was his care taker for about a year and half after he had his stroke. So I took care of him and our bond as father and daughter grew even closer, so when he passe in Jan. 2012 I was completely devastated! He and I were very close and I had a very hard time coping. So one day, I just started to go to our local park that is along the river and I just begin to run. In my mind, I was just running out all the feelings and emotions that were going through my mind. my goal at that time, WAS NOT getting healthier. My only goal was finding an outlet to dealing with the loss of my dad. So I started running 3 miles a day for 4-5 days a week. I begin to lose weight quickly and I was feeling better. Still having a hard time coping with my dads loss, but feeling better in my body and my mind somewhat, so I just continued.
About Nov. of 2012, I hit a plateau and running wasn't enough. When I was in High School, I was a 4 year Varsity Letterman in 3 sports (Volleyball, Basketball & Softball) I have always been athletic and loved the way that it made me feel. Weight Training has always been a part of my life since High School. After I graduated, went to college, the weight training stopped. So WHY NOT add the weight training back into my life. So as of Nov 2012, I started running 3 days a week and weight training 6 days. I have lost 45lbs and I only have about 10lbs more to go. I am 6' tall and I weigh 195 right now. And my doctors have said with all the training that i am doing, they think 180-185 is a great weight for me. So That's my target.
I feel great, I look great, but I want to add more definition and muscle mass. I see alot already in my arms, calves and my shoulders are amazing, I just want more. I think once you start, you never can get enough!
I love the way it makes me feel, look and of course the compliments. I have people all the time compliment me on my progress. Losing 45lbs isn't easy, It has taken dedication, hard work and great eating habits. And I continue to excel on my progress. Not only with losing my last 10lbs, but building more muscle.
