I needed to lose weight at first but I also wanted to get back some part of the sportsman I was when I was a younger man. I was listening to the stone temple pilots when the chorus of a song reminded me of my old pole vault coach. "I'm half the man I used to be" and I thought why does that have to ring true. So I set out on this journey with the goal of losing weight. That all started to happen but I started to realize that the actual number meant less to me than the way my clothes fit and the change in my physical appearance. I'm no Adonis but the changes I saw/see are what keeps me going back when I'm tired and don't wanna go. Now it's to see if I can run circles around the young guys at work that keeps me inspired to live out the goals of a healthier life.
I love the community at my gym. Like minded people for the most part that are friendly yet are there to get down to business and not socialize. Well this is how it is at 5:00 am after the morning things may be different, but I also like the feel of muscles being strained in a good way that builds you up one day one movement at a time with a purpose in mind.
