I was in my freshmen year at college and I was just going through the motions. I was eating junk, playing video games all day long, and going no where. One day while visiting my family at home, my younger brother came out of our basement having just finished a workout. I had not seen him in awhile and I was shocked to see how much muscle he had gained. Although I kept it to myself, I knew in my head that he had gotten bigger then me. I was pissed. How was I going to let my brother who is three years younger then me be stronger. So from that day forth I have been working out. In the beginning it was tough, but now I love working out and I have thankfully passed my younger brother in strength again.
I love working out because of the rush that you get from it. There is nothing better then pulling up that last dumbbell row, reracking after that last bench press, and fully squeezing you bicep as you complete your last curl. I love knowing that you pushed yourself and the results coming as your reward. There is no team in bodybuilding, it is just you out there. If you cheat, your cheating yourself. If you don't push yourself, you don't succeed. There is no one else to rely on, you control the outcome in the gym and I love that. I love working out most though because in the gym is where I feel my absolute best, it is my sanctuary, and I am thankful that God blessed me with the ability to lift weights.
