Not sure if anyone will ever read this but I'm gonna put this out there anyway. I am going to use this as a motivator in achieving my main goal regardless if anyone reads this or not.
In 1992 I got out of the ARMY and told myself that I would never exercise again since the ARMY worked our asses off everyday with PT. For 10 years I was inactive outside of work (pipe-fitting) I didn't get any physical activity out at all unless you count 12oz curls...lol.
About 5 years ago I almost lost my father to a heart attack. He had a triple bypass and actually flat lined during the operation but by the grace of god and the doctors he was able to pull through. A couple of years later I lost my beloved grandmother to Diabetes and heart failure as well.
I don't know if it was a mind thing for me or something was actually happening but I started having health issues mainly Heart Palpitations and my back had been giving me trouble. Well the Dr. had been telling me that I needed to loose weight since all tests and lab work would always come back good. I would shrug it off as BS (I know pretty stupid to do so).
Well I finally realized I had to do something, so I Convinced my wife to go to Golds with me to set up a membership for us. I told her before walking in; "don't let them sell you on anything else but a membership! I CAN LOOSE WEIGHT ON MY OWN!"
They did their "health analysis" on my stats and the outcome was shocking...I was 37 and my health age was the same of a 52 year old man. We were floored!! Right there and then I put in my head a new goal in life....To live long enough to watch my grand kids walk the stage for their High School or College Graduation.
So I ended up getting a total of 18 personal training sessions for me and 12 for my wife and I was completely wrong, I did not have the knowledge to loose this weight on my own and there was NO WAY THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO LOOSE THIS WEIGHT BY MYSELF WITH THE LIMITED KNOWLEDGE I HAD.
It has been 14 months to date and I have went from 270lbs wearing size 44 jeans and XXXL shirts to weighing between 215-220 wearing size 36 jeans and L-XL shirts depending on brand.
I have a routine down now and when I do stray from it due to work or kids sports I feel the difference. Hopefully I will get rid of the last little bit of stomach I have left and get my mid section I had when I finished Basic Training some 19 years ago. We shall see.
Good luck to everyone that is in my current shoes.
