I had a stroke on May 13, 2012. At the time of my stroke, I weighed around 250lbs, which was down from the 275lbs I weighed a year earlier. Through rehab and walking, I got down to 216lbs. I got tired of walking, and slacked off on my walks and drifted up to 230lbs. I was about to sell my olympic weights (330lbs), squat rack, and bench, then decided to get back to lifting again. As of today (09/10/14), I weight 220lbs, which is a loss of 10lbs in 5 weeks.
Due to my stroke, I lost my short term memory and am half blind (no right peripheral vision), but that will not stop me from lifting. I am no longer working, so finding time to lift is no problem. I am back to enjoying lifting, and am doing the StrongLifts 5x5 program. Looking forward once again to lifting and meeting other folks who dedicate themselves to being healthy. I have learned the hard way what extra body weight can do to you!
