Originally, I have been weight lifting on and off since I was in middle school (over twenty years ago). I never really focussed on what it was doing to my body as far as improvement and weight loss. Throughout time, I only worked out to get through the military and employer job requirements. I just did it to get by.
Currently, I guess I am going through some sort of mid-life change. I see and hear all these stories how people have changed their lives and physical appearance with diet and exercise. If they can do it, I can do. The only person holding me back is me.
It helps me get to my goal of having a low body fat percentage, lower stress levels, and overall better health. When i work out there are no other distractions except what is in front of me at the time. (ie.. one more rep, five more pounds lost) it makes me feel relieved to see some accomplishment from all the hard work. Each workout session is a new obstacle to lift or pull, with a since of satisfaction at the end.
