After my second son was born I felt flabby and out of shape. Started off taking some aerobic classes, which I enjoyed. Continued with the classes and could see a difference. Then moved and had another baby, the last one!! But because I was in good shaped the pregnancy was easy and I got right back in shape a few months after my daughter was born. Moved again and joined the local Y and this was a game changer. Started taking aerobics there then became a group exercise instructor, then a trainer.
My philosophy toward working out has changed some over the years because not only do I have a commitment to my clients, I have one to myself to be as strong and healthy as I can be. After all, I wouldn't be a very good role model if I didn't make it a priority.
Where do I begin?? I guess first thing I love about it is the very fact that I do workout. I'm completely motivated to do it even when I don't really feel like it. And when I'm done, I feel great. I can feel the changes as muscle is added and fat comes off but it's also physically noticeable. But that's just a bonus.
I think working out is the ultimate "fountain of youth". At my age (54) I'm stronger than I ever thought I'd be and people always think I'm in my forties. I can live with that lol. But seriously aging has seemed to slow down so I can enjoy many vigorous activities and plan on doing that for many more years.
As a trainer, I just love to help people realize their goals. It's very satisfying to know that someone has become healthier and lost weight, gained muscle or are just happy to feel better about themselves.
