I started weightlifting to lose the weight gain caused by medical condition with my thyroid that took many years to get back into healthy range. I have always been a runner and played sports where we had conditioning drills, but never any kind of strength training until May 2016. I started lifting at that time because I was not able to run anymore due to being so out of shape. I lost 47 lbs by lifting and improving my overall diet by small improvements over time. Just recently added cardio back in along with my strength training.
