I have always been a person who love sport since I was a child. Soccer, Skating, Basket ball, Martial Arts and Fitness are among them some of the ones I practiced during my childhood. At that moment I liked to read comics of Superman, Wonder woman, Spiderman, Batman, X-men, Miss Marvel and so on and see the good and proportioned athletic bodies those comix's artist were chiseling taking them out from a dream. At that moment I never thought such bodies were possible and socially speaking at that moment you could not see them in the streets.
Later came Rambo and Rocky's movies and we knew Sylvester Stallone - Sly and Dolph Lundgren in a moment in which International knowledge of bodybuilding was very limited. Gosh! I was shocked by such bodies. How such people could be so fit. I never thought this was possible to overcome, and then suddenly the Styrian Oak appeared in scene and smashed that thinking in a second - Arnold Schwarzenegger. At that moment I realized such bodies were possible to be done in the real world. Despite a guy like that was considered just with muscle and brainless, he clearly showed us during these years how a man can achieve not only success physically but socially, mentally and politically.
After many years of sport I started working and despite I always tried to be fit and had some attempts to enter into bodybuilding sport and started my own routines reading here and there, my responsibilities made always almost impossible to stay in one fixed location. First as an international sales manager then as a general manager in different countries and then was when I came to China where I live now. During all those years my body suffered many problems specially related to overweight, fatty food and wines which are related to all business activities. Very nice and delicious but very unhealthy. What others considered privileges and at the beginning were also for me, finished being a nightmare, and always tried to skip a lunch or a dinner with some customer or make diet when I was not meeting such people. Despite of it I finished with a nice belly and some kidney problems as well as some high level of cholesterol and triglycerides very difficult to reduce with very high stress in my body. Then I said stop! it is enough!.
It took me 2 years after 2 operations of kidney and a severe diet to recover partially again the status in which my body was before. Last year after some deep thinking I started to play badmington seriously to make intensive cardio and decided to be back to the sport I always liked and wanted to do.
For me to be fit is not a manufactured state but a natural one. If you are not fit it means you are not eating well and you are not making the necessary sport to maintain the balance within body and mind. In essence we are what we eat, the genes, and what we do. Mens sana in corpore sano - ( "a healthy mind in a healthy body" ).
