I started weight training to make myself stronger, healthier and better looking. I played sports and skateboarded in my youth but didn't start lifting until I was about 30. I started off like most people with the minimal weights that I had access to and had about the same learning curve as a baby giraffe for a while. I read. I worked out with people who were stronger, more experienced and willing to help. I started to apply science to nutrition. Nowadays I'm pushing my lifting hard, have gained desirable muscle mass, have made it a lifestyle and consider myself a constantly improving work in progress.
I like the gains, the pump, the results, the increased confidence, the strength, the science, the battles and the victories. The soreness, struggle, and pain all sharpen my overall concept of achievement. And I like consistently looking and feeling better in general.
