I have played soccer ever since I could walk. After finishing my college DII career in soccer, I had found that I excelled in the weight room. When I went back to grad school, still assisting with the soccer program, my outlet became throwing weight around in the gym. Following my own kind of programming I wasn't seeing the results I wanted or my numbers going any higher. I joined a local gym that has a background in Powerlifting meets, CrossFit meets and many of the members and the owners hold national/state records. Since competing in CrossFit and one powerlifting meet... I now hold national records in all lifts in my age/weight division in the NASA Powerlifting organization.. as well as the best total in my weight division overall. I now attend two gyms, one is a CrossFit affiliate that I coach and train out of, and the other is your basic gym that I sometimes personal train people out of. I enjoy having the best of both worlds, bodybuilding and crossfit. I'm still aspire to be a sponsored athlete, and have high hopes to be apart of the Lift Big Eat Big movement.
Weightlifting is honestly what I do best. The feeling I get when I PR on a lift is intoxicating... It's a rush that few people truly understand. Being able to encourage females is also another reason why I love lifting. It's becoming more and more popular for women to lift heavy... FINALLY!!! Encouraging women to be strong individuals, in and out of the gym gives them the self confidence that transcends into everyday lift. Personally, when I go into my gym and I'm partnered up with the guys and lifting as much... if not more than them, it empowers me. It shows the men that a woman can hang with the guys and we are not inferior to the male species. :)
