I graduated in Exercise Science and have worked in the Fitness industry for many years. I have taught step, yoga, BodyPump, circuit training, etc. I am a certified personal trainer through NASM. Since college, and even after having 3 babies, I have always been physically active and healthy. In 2005, I discovered running and since then I have completed multiple marathons and half marathons. Back in 2010 I was training for the St. George Marathon when I got patellar tendinitis and had to stop running. I worked with a physical therapist to strengthen my legs and recover. I focused more on yoga, stretching, and building specific muscle groups. I decided to do a full-on Build Cycle and see what muscle mass I could gain. At that time I was just 100 lbs and about 17% body fat. I was a size 0, had a 6-Pack, and could wear whatever I wanted... but I didn't really have curves. And although I had cardiovascular endurance, my muscle size/strength wasn't anything to brag about. I started lifting and following a traditional bodybuilding plan. I tracked my weights/reps/sets and focused on improvements. As soon as I started seeing results, I was in love! Since then I have competed in NPC Bodybuilding shows, first in Figure division, then moved over to Bikini. My first NPC Bikini was Legends Classic in Feb 2014, Las Vegas. I then did NPC Utah where I took first in 3 classes. I decided to go to Nationals and I placed 3rd at Gary Udit's Masters Nationals and 8th at North American Championships. I started to believe in myself and catch the vision. I was on fire! I had to get my IFBB Pro card and join the women who inspired and motivated me for years!! In 2015 I started training with Body by O which was a great help to me - I feel that I truly reached my best physique ever with the help of Kim Oddo. My first NPC show of the year was Nor Cal where I was disappointed to receive a 3rd and 4th place trophy. I looked better than I ever had! My coach and I tweaked a few things and next I competed at Team Universe. It was MY DAY - I felt amazing and had the best day of my life. I won my IFBB Pro card and my dream came true. I love this sport more than anything I have ever accomplished. My pro debut was Iron Games in Culver City and I was lucky to place 5th that day. There were 27 IFBB Pro Bikini athletes competing there and it was SO tough. I love how this sport drives me and pushes me like nothing else!!
Now that I have discovered the ability to physically alter and improve my body through weight lifting, I love it! It makes me feel so strong and in control. Especially when I increase my squats or see a change in my shoulders. Before competing I had some very very destructive relationships and I had ZERO self confidence. Through the process of becoming physically stronger, I became stronger mentally as well. I started to stand up for myself and insist that others treat me with respect and love... or GET OUT of my life! It was so incredible to discover that I could achieve my goals and become better, stronger, fitter, and LOVE and accept myself 100%. I absolutely love the world of bodybuilding and all that it has brought into my life. It transformed me in every way possible.
