I was born kinda skinny. My parents fed me this Chinese medicine to increase my appetite and I got fat. By the time I was in 5th grade, I was 4'11", 100lbs. I hated being fat and getting made fun for it. I slimmed down a little in middle school due to martial arts but I never got the body I wanted. After my 2011 summer vacation in Asia, I was up to 162 lbs. I decided to get ripped and initially did bodyweight workouts. When school started (it was my junior year), I took my school's weightlifting class. I fell in love with lifting weights and started researching more about it. Somewhere along the way I discovered bodybuilding & powerlifting.
Bodybuilding has transformed me not just physically, but mentally and spiritually. I have learned numerous lessons such as time management as well as many qualities and attitudes of a man. Bodybuilding does not exist in the gym, in the kitchen, or on stage. It manifests itself throughout all facets of life. It's a sport, an art, a science, a mindset, and a lifestyle.
To me, powerlifting it is not only a sport, but a way to express myself: strength, anger, rage, stress, joy, passion. Powerlifting is a critical took for helping me become the strongest version of myself.
