I have always been an athlete and even after high school and kids I continued on with City League sports but as I got older and my kids into more activities, my athletic "career" came to an end. I had a friend invite me along to a class with her at our local gym, which at the time I had never even belonged to a gym. After class one I was hooked. I started taking 5 classes a week and it was a couple years into these classes when our instructor left and I was asked to take her place. I was shocked and honored and scared to death LOL!! 5 years later, with an 18 month break from teaching when i moved to Cali, Im now teaching 5 classes a week and am now training for my first figure competition!!!! Weights and mea prep have become part of my fitness journey and I am loving the challenge and so excited to see the best ME I can be up on that stage!!!
For me, as a woman, as a mom, it feels so good to leave a workout and realize just how strong I am. I am empowered everyday by the physical activity I put myself through. It is a true love of seeing what my body can handle and what I can expect from it. The mental part of pushing your body to its physical limits is where I find the biggest enjoyment. Seeing someone do something they told me a month a go the "could not do" is such a rewarding feeling....I have been that person saying "I couldn't" before so I know not only what the individual feels when the accomplishment happens but as a instructor or friend, it feels equally as amazing. To know someone has beat the mental game and pushed their body further than they thought possible is the best reward. I love working out and i love helping people to workout!! Motivating and leading with my example! Rep for Rep I am in it with them, showing them it is possible and we are strong enough!!!
