I've been a runner since high school but just within the past year or so I've realized that lifting is an important part of working out as well. I continue to train for a half marathon about once a year but once I finish the race (which I am currently training for) I am going to go full blast on weight lifting and focus less on muscular endurance and more on muscular strength and hypertrophy in hopes of decreasing my body fat and increasing my lean muscle mass.
The endorphins that follow a workout session are a feeling unlike any other. They leave me wanting more of the gym, but I know too much of anything is not a good thing so I stick to a healthy amount of working out. I also love seeing the progressions I've made towards my goals especially since I thought they were unattainable at one point in time. I have recently started getting some real definition in my abs which I have never had before. I always (and still do) think ab work is pretty boring to do but I know that I have to focus on this area in order to get the body of my dreams. I am far from where I want to be, but I know with the time and determination to focus on my lifestyle change I will achieve my goal!
