I have been working out since I started playing youth football and age 7. Football was my first love and it completely took me in. However, growing up I was a bigger kid and was always playing in the upper age groups due to my size. I was coached as an offensive lineman all the way through college and my weight range from 14 to 22 years old was 162 to 280lbs. Once I stopped playing, I had to keep up the challenges which is when I found running. I trained and ran my first marathon in 2008 and went from 255lbs to 205lbs and ran a sub 5 hour marathon; not bad for an ex-lineman who only ran maybe 1.5 miles max in a single cycle. Once this ended I was tall and lanky and started lifting again, but never really got to where I really wanted to be. It seemed as though I lost my ability to push myself; something I gained through my 16 years of football. Now, here I am...ready for yet, another change and this time, I WILL FINISH!
Working out is basically a legal drug and I will be using FOREVER! For a while it was about sports and getting ready for the next season, but as I grew older, I found more of a love for working out than I did when I was in high school or even college. It's about self determination; being able to get your butt out of a bed and getting the work done without a coach making sure you show up. There is no better feeling than after finishing a workout that I absolutely kill. The sense of accomplishment is just outrageous, not to mention the outlet of being able to pour your emotions into a metal bar and some plates. Working out is a temple made of sweat and heart, and I love it!
