Since 2007 I ran as a way to stay fit, lose fat, all the good things that come with working out. However, running just wasn't giving me the physical results I wanted. I was thin, but I felt weak. One day, after drudging away on my treadmill, an infomercial on lifting came across the TV. The women looked fantastic! Long, lean, strong, just fit! It started to dawn on me that maybe I should start adding in strength training on top of my running; therefore, I researched. I read article after article from bodybuilding.com and any website that I could find and finally concluded that I would start.
That was when I found Jamie Eason's LiveFit program. No matter how grueling it was, I pushed through it and finish. The results from her program amazed me, I did two rounds! I can definitely see that I'm now hooked.
Strength training says it all. I feel stronger in so many ways now. Running gave me discipline to drive myself further, and it will always be my foundation, however, strength training gave me visible results that screamed, "You're making a change! Look at your muscles GIRL!" Although, I am still far from my physique goal, I'm getting there - one day at a time, or should I say one lift at a time.
I'm glad I took that first step, pushed away my insecurities and picked up the dumbbell and told myself, "Yea. I can do this." It was only possible because of the vast information I found on this website....the inspirational stories from normal everyday people who chose to make a change, and continued their change are the ones who lifted me, when I was frustrated and stuck, kept me going every single day.
They humble me with every story they tell. "One day at a time."
