I hated sports and athletic events my whole life because I was brutally bullied, especially in gym class even though I was usually the fastest and strongest of the class, out maxing everyone, winning games and setting new track records. The only reason I participated was because it was mandatory, but after I developed a condition that made me gain weight I felt unhealthy and too large. Originally I wanted to lose weight for fashion modeling and do some fitness modeling so I took a weight training class but the more I would lift the better I would feel, no weight lose but it's nice to be fit.
Honestly? I love being sore, you're constantly reminded of your results. I love feeling my shoulders ripple, I love feeling tension in my body, I love the pain... It's something you can typically do by yourself and not have to rely on others like in groups sports for excellence. I love knowing I'm stronger than I thought I was and saying, "Wow! I lifted that!" Also, watching cute guys in the gym is a perk as well!
