I've always enjoyed being active and participating in sports from a very young age. Yes, I even played flag football as a little girl (because my parents wouldn't let me play tackle. Lol.). Basketball was my absolute favorite sport. I started playing when I was 4. As an adult and mom, I don't really get the chance to play in organized sports, but I needed something for myself. Going through pregnancy has definitely changed my body, but I've always wanted more than to just be "skinny". I love the look of a strong woman. I fell completely in love with training when I started working out with a trainer in August of 2012 to compete in my first NPC bikini competition in November of 2012. I loved what it did for me mentally more than anything it could have ever given my physically (but I'll never complain about having a fit body I love). Once I got a taste of that competition with myself every workout, I've never looked back and am always excited to push myself learn new things.
Working out is so much more than the physical side. Working out has helped me with many terrible things I've gone through in my life mentally and emotionally, as well as making me feel good physically. When everything else seems to be going wrong, a good workout with some great music can lift my mood almost instantly. I love the confidence I get from pushing myself and reaching my goals. I love that I can set an example for my kids that you can do anything you set your mind to and you can always push through when things get tough.. that you have control over the choices you make, and the only person that can stop you is you.
