I originally wanted to help train my friend for a 5k run and lose weight, but during high school cross country and track I had so many injuries that I needed to find some way to prevent that from happening again. After some research, I found out that running is best complimented by strength training, so I tried out the female training bible per some stranger's suggestion. Spoiler: I don't run anymore and I'm addicted to the iron! Never thought that would have happened when I started, but I'm so glad it did.
It's one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself. Not only does it build strength, it builds confidence, and that confidence radiates outward, inspiring others to follow in your footsteps. It also helps manage my depression, stress, and anxiety. Plus, you learn so much about your body that you never knew! You become your own science experiment.
