I have always been involved in sports and liked weight training when I was younger but didn't priortize exercise as part of my day. I never ate well but have always been well educated on every diet out there. I was stuck thinking I had to starve myself if I wanted to be thin. After school, I had a desk job and the pounds started adding up. I ended up weighing 180lbs. I was super stressed out by then and my doctor suggested I look into stress management techniques. So I started yoga for stress management and fell in love with how it made me feel. I the decided life was too short to feel like crap so I decided to move to a place I have always loved, became vegan for a year and started working out. I later became a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher and volunteered at the YMCA teaching classes and they paid for me to also become a TRX Instructor. I was then 120 lbs. and lean from yoga. I was feeling pretty invincible so I decided to start up my own business. I felt pretty amazing from eating vegan but I wasnt eating the right balance and felt like I was losing energy. That took it's toll after 3 years working 24/7 and now eating pub food and drinking way too much my weight spiraled up to 190 lbs. I started dating a guy who was into bodybuilding and saw how fast he could make changes in his body. I realized then I needed to put on more muscle to lose fat and keep it off forever. I then started my education in naturopathic medicine and learned how the body works and what it needs. I added supplements into my diet plan and looked at various long life diets and lifestyles and made a plan to incorporate those things into my day. I focus on getting a full spectrum of fruits and veggies each day, limit gluten, wheat, dairy and soy as much as possible but do enjoy an occasional treat if I feel like one. I have found making sure I get adequate nutrition that I have no cravings for foods anymore.
