When I started to weight train, it was a class that was three times a week. I was 162 lbs, my highest weight and had taken back up with running, as I was a runner in high school cross country and track. The weight training was really what helped shed the excess as well as make my body smaller!
I continued to strength train and my body changed SO vastly over a course of a year! I lost about 10 pants sizes as I was a 10-12 and am now a 2-3! I have maintained this for almost 7 years and made it a part of my LIFE!
I was a heavy smoker and drinker too and it was about being HEALTHY period. Not skinny or hot, but healthy. Over weight and unhappy in my life I made the change because I knew under all the excess weight, emotions and behaviors was the healthy happy person I am today!
After my weight loss, my lifestyle change and my reprograming of my mindset I became a personal trainer, wellness coach, healthy lifestyle blogger and speaker, boot camp instructor and marathoner! Life is beautiful as I help others find their own path to wellness!
THEN, in May of 2011, I really adopted an eating clean lifestyle and cut out processed foods, wheat due to an allergy, and reduced my dairy intake. I noticed a considerable reduction in my overall allergies, but I also dropped weight. By adding in a split lifting routine where I embraced heavy weights and shorter more intense cardio, I lost 10 more lbs and 11% body fat to bring me where I am today!!
I love the way that I can be strong, fit and feminine at the same time!! I can push a lot of weight around and still fit into my skinny jeans, or as I call them, my "strong" jeans.
