Having become a mother and wife at the wise age of twenty, and only putting on 5 lbs. after the birth of my son, I never focused on my health. When I went back to work when my son was two, I began eating fast food on a daily basis and drinking way too much alcohol. After a couple years of this I suddenly noticed that I had put on an additional 20lbs!!! I had tried cutting my calorie intake and exercising--cardio only of course because only men lift weights right--and I did lose some weight, but just to have it all come back with a vengeance. So now at nearly 140lbs, I had gained more weight than I ever thought I would and was officially an alcoholic while suffering from depression and anxiety. To say this was a massive wake-up call would be an incredible understatement. I needed to be a better me for my own health and for my son. About 18 months ago I came across an internet article about a woman similar in age to me who had an almost mirrored situation to mine. She overcame her obstacles and transformed her life by focusing on bettering her body and mind through weight training and a healthy lifestyle. I knew right away this was the answer I had been looking for! Since then I have been slowly working towards my goals of living a better lifestyle in order to achieve a much healthier and happier mind, body and family. There have definitely been setbacks along the way but since participating more on this site my drive and focus have been stronger than ever.
