I started educating myself on health and fitness in 2009, because I realised I let myself go.
I grew up eating right and being very active (netball, basketball, hockey) and never thought I would gain weight. That all changed when I started my last year of high school and ordered take out instead of cooking. I also stopped playing sports, eating breakfast and lunch due to my hectic schedule - which left me craving fast food. I did that for 5 years and the weight crept on.
Since then I have made significant changes I walk at least 3 miles a day, I try to cook when I can and I only eat when I am hungry.
Last year I stuck to that programme and the small changes resulted in me losing 5% of my body fat and over 15 lbs in less than two months. I've kept it off, but I have plateaued because I don't have a lot of knowledge about the amount of calories I should be eating. Secondly, I don't know how many calories I burn when I exercise. Most importantly, I've been doing it alone and I know I will get better results if I am part of a community of like minded people.
So here I am, ready to learn, continue on my journey and meet some inspirational people in the process.
