When I was younger, my father encouraged me to play soccer which opened up things about me that I did not know. I discovered in middle school that I was a pretty good long distance runner and practiced getting better. By the time I got to high school, I played soccer and ran cross country. Once in college, I started enjoying the gym and weights. I had several personal trainers that helped push
me further and to keep me motivated.
I am originally from Colorado Springs and met my husband in Colorado Springs. He serves in the US Army. I loved Colorado Springs because there are so many outdoor activities available and you get to train at altitude! The Pikes Peak Incline, located in Manitou Springs, was a favorite of mine. It starts at 6,500ft, has 2,744 steps made from old railroad ties approximately one mile straight up with a 2,000 foot elevation gain-quite impressive to say the least.
After 28 years, I wanted to see the world and see what it had to offer. This pass year, my husband and I decided to move to Germany. Coming to Germany was a huge change for us-language and culture just to name a couple. However, Germany does offer beautiful walking, biking, and hiking trails just like Colorado.
This past year I saw a sign in Stuttgart that said there was a Natural Bodybuilding and Figure competition coming up. I had always wanted to compete and now was my chance to see if I had what it really takes. I gave myself 6 months to get ready for the competition. I started with the Paleo diet and some Cross-fit workouts combined with heavy lifting. I started to lose weight and see results quickly. As it got closer to the competition, I began doing higher sets and reps. I received help from a number of friends on how to progress further. In no time, I was showing muscle definition. I was ecstatic! With, the support my husband and friends, I competed in the Natural Bodybuilding and Figure Competition on August 25, 2012. I won 2nd place and was so proud of myself! My hard work and determination were rewarded.
Competing for me is to show everyone that they can do it! Your mind and body can do anything you want it to do once you make that commitment. In 2013, I will be competing in more Natural Bodybuilding shows to get my Pro-card. While I am living in Germany, my goal is to inspire more Europeans about fitness. How? I will look to Arnold Schwarzenegger for motivation and Jamie Easonâs story for inspiration. I will use myself as an example of someone who knew very little about body-building but was able to go from 155 lbs to 118 lbs and win 2nd place!
After taking about 2 years to build I just competed in Finland Helskini March 8, 2014 and won second place! I use an amazing personal trainer for my program and all i do is just do the work she tells me to do. It is so worth it to work with a personal trainer that understand your body! I'm currently working on building for my next show with first place on my mind.
