I finally realized that it was time to take control of my body and my health. I neglected my body for nearly my whole life. I've never been athletic and because of that I have shied away from any physical activity beyond walking and light hiking. I tried working out and dieting about 10 years ago, had great short-lived success, but I allowed life to get in the way of maintaining myself.
I started January 2013 by joining a gym and having no fitness goals beyond going 3 days a week. I showed up, moved on the elliptical, lifted a few weights (upper body one day, lower the next) and saw only a little improvement. Then I did the Couch to 5K program and ran my first 5K in May -- what an accomplishment! It was proof that I can challenge myself and my body to do things I never thought possible. Starting in June 2013, I'm embarking on the LiveFit trainer and already seeing some remarkable success.
A law degree, a marriage, 2 houses, and 2 kids later, I'm on the road to being my best self.
