My fitness journey started in 2008 when I hit my breaking point. I was very athletic in my younger years, in high school I played volleyball and ran track, but once I hit my 20's I got comfortable and lazy. Then the bad eating habit and the sedentary lifestyle took a toll on my petite body. At 5 feet tall anything over 120 lbs (with no muscle) is very uncomfortable, and at 28 (in 2008) I reached my all time high of 166 lbs!! YUP YIKES>>> now that was my breaking point. I didn't look like myself anymore, but also I didnt feel like myself either. If you ask most of friends they would say that they never saw me being that heavy, that is because I didn't let anyone see me like that. The shame was greater and I hid from almost everyone.
As far as taking that first step to a real change, that came after years of feeling let down by not sticking to a plan. One day I made the commitment to myself to not just start a plan, but to follow it 100% and finish it. In 2008 I took my official before pictures, then I zipped them and locked them in a folder. Today I see them and I cant believe the change I made. The way this all worked for me was because I changed how I ate and I began to workout. With trial and errors, every month I changed something in my routine and in my diet. This trial and error period lasted about 3 years tho. In that time I lost 50 lbs and built 10 lb of muscle. I did this by reading a lot of articles written by athletes and well know bodybuilders here on Bodybuilding.com. I figured, if I want to look like an athlete, I must live like one, train like one, and eat like one. 3 years later, I achieved what I set out to do initially, which was to feel and look like my old self (at 30 looking like in early 20 is a huge buster overall), which motivated me to go beyond that goal. In 2012 (already 32) I signed myself up for a physique competition. I knew that alone will help me take my physique to a higher level, and it did. And I got hooked! and every since then I keep improving because there is nothing more rewarding then beating your previous self. After my competition in 2012 I took a 2 year break to build mature muscle, and this year (2014) I made my figure debut and stepped on stage again and I proudly qualified to compete at a National level now. All in all I am static about my future self, on stage and off stage.
My transformation has only began, with everyday I intend to improve. My goal is to inspire many people who don't think it is possible to get fit once you hare battling with weight loss struggles. I trusted the process and with patience I accomplished more then what i have ever imagine. Hopefully someone out there can get motivated to start their own journey as well.
I love bodybuilding because I love the control. In life I have learn that you can't control what happen to you, nor you can't control others. The only thing we can control is our actions and our own destiny. Because of that I love the power of re-shaping my own self. Physical and mental, only bodybuilding can teach this.
