My first year of university all my roommates were heavy into body building, after they had introduced me to the sport i read the Arnold Encyclopedia. After seeing these huge guys in print i was brought back to childhood memories of heroes: He-Man, Connan, Hulk hogan,Batman, superman. After that i just wanted to get big, bigger then m roommates, bigger then Hulk Hogan and eventually bigger then the Hulk.
I started lifting and i habitually have a very addictive personality so it became a very healthy addiction. I stopped smoking at first and than I stopped drinking and started eating well, that came later. When i started I had the fundamentals of training this gave me a football player physique. After over bulking I started power lifting and noted that it would be a benefit to weigh less, so i cut for a meet, This is about when my life started really changing. In my late 20's i decided to start training for my first body building show in 2011. This is when i actively decided to become a body builder and dedicate my self to the lifestyle
Its a life style; a passion, an art, a sport and a form of entertainment. This is what makes Body building so versatile to me. I can even classify it, it is many things to me. When people ask me how show prep is going, i answer that i love every second of it. The pride I have in myself for saying no to everyday pleasures, delaying short term gratification for an end goal that far exceeds the pleasure of a piece of cake. The best part of bodybuilding is that the gratification is not winning the class or the show, its getting there; being the best you can be on that stage.
As i said in the intro Body Building to me is an Art; posing is an Art, my body is a piece of art which i perfect every day. This is a sport; I train just as hard, if not harder then other athletes, i feel pain someday's and push thorough and it feels great. This is entertainment; I wow people every day, i entertain. How many other sports can this be said of.
The social element: I love the friends i have met in body building, they have been the most loyal and honest people i have ever known. We have a sense of community that can not be broken. Unspoken brother/sister hoods.
