I always thought I was in ok shape... I ran track and cross country into college. As an adult, I've run countless 5K's, some 10K's, a few Half Marathons and 2 Full Marathons. I used to think that I could eat whatever I wanted because I "worked out", so I didn't really become a gym rat until I made a somewhat specific New Year's Resolution on January 1, 2011 to take control of my diet, lose 15 lbs and maintain my weight at 180 lbs. I successfully did that, PLUS lowered my bodyfat percentage almost 8% in 2011. I'm enjoying this process so much that I can't help but share with others what I am learning. You can also visit my tumblr blog for useful information about what I'm discovering. I'm a NERD to the process!
It's an activity where I have all the control. I determine the outcome, and I like that about it. I also love Rec sports like softball and volleyball, and so I definintely want to be the best I can in those arenas, but those are TEAM sports, so bodybuilding gives me that outlet to focus on what I CAN DO, what I CAN ACHIEVE.
