I was always active growing up. Upon my 7th grade year, I missed 6 months of school due to an increase in asthma attacks. I began slowly progressing my level of physical activity through use of walking and running. I had packed on a lot of weight from the varying medications and felt as though individuals were constantly staring when I returned to school. At the end of the school year, I showed up religiously to track practice in work boots. The weight started to fall off and my breathing became significantly better. That summer I came across varying magazines, such as, MensHealth, Flex, and Muscle and Fitness. I ripped out the posters inside them, hung them on my bedroom wall and my family turned the basement into my recreational space. When I started my freshman year in high school, I still received the same looks I had received after 6 months of breathing ailments, but I had slimmed down and packed on muscle.
After graduating from high school, I took a greater appreciation for myself and the world of fitness and wellness. I then entered Eastern Kentucky University where I obtained a B.S. in Adult Fitness and Wellness Management (a.k.a Exercise Science) and currently attending the University of Kentucky for my Masters in Biomechanics. While I still lift weights in varying forms, my addiction for running has dramatically increased as I have now completed 7 full-marathons. In addition, I obtained my Certified Personal Training certification through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and started my own business, coined Reed's Wellness and Fitness Training, LLC.
