My son was interested in weights so I started buying some used equipment for the basement. Got him started, now he is educating me!
So that's how it all got started, quite casually. Now we're both a lot more serious, with some lofty goals.

I've played sports my whole life, just your average high school stuff and rec league stuff, but I decided, finally, that I wanted to do something I've never done. That is why I hit the weights, I wanted to get strong and add some size. I didn't want to pass through 50 soft. So what started as a mid life project has become a lifestyle that I truly enjoy. I've been a major drinker, a drug user and a couch potato and I decided I wanted something more. I'm sure some of my drinking buddies are wondering what the hell happened as they continue on their way, which is fine. I've just had my eyes opened a bit. Some of it had to be the hard way, because apparently that's my way. Of course I still like to have a few (drinks, drugs were years ago) but I no longer hang out just pounding beer after beer all day, only to wake up feeling like **** with a cloudy memory, and, maybe some explaining to do. So that's it. If I can help I'll be glad to try. In no way am I an expert, but I do know a few things, or I can steer you in the right direction. Feel free to PM me with any question.
Great way to stay in shape, stay young and be healthy. My goal is to die of old age, really old age! Bodybuilding and healthy living will be the biggest part to achieve that goal. I will not follow in my families footsteps when it comes to health. Lift Life!
One thing I could say, if you drill down to it is, I just don't want to be some soft middle age old looking man. Was I headed towards a mid life crisis? Not in my opinion. I don't just want to sit back and be passive about aging and my health. I want to take an active stance on trying to be fit, healthy, youthful (yet hopefully wise, OK, just a little bit.) I've always referred to this as my mid life project, which really only tells you when I got started. I see myself lifting until I can't lift anymore. I love this lifestyle! :)
