I've played basketball my whole life, never really being very big. In high school I was around 185 lbs., but my arms looked as if I was around 150. I had decent size in my legs from playing basketball for so long, doing drills, etc, and that was where I carried my weight. I decided eventually that I really wanted to get strong. I saw people in college bench pressing 225 lbs., and seeing those 2 plates, I was like "woow, I wanna do that!" When I really started studying up on supplements and weights was when I was laying in bed for a few months after having back surgery. I found bb.com and started reading everything I could find. Eventually I signed up, and am still learning more and more everyday.
It definitely is a stress release. It allows me to channel all my energy into something positive and worthwhile. It feels great when you see a change in your body, when you push out an extra rep, when you hit a PR on any lift, etc. It's very rewarding for me in that way.
