I had been bulimic for over ten years. I'd tried fad diets and extreme diets. At times I was very thin...frail and other times I was chubby, never really "fat" though. My boyfriend and I moved in together about a year ago and things were becoming more and more serious. I wanted to be better person for him and for my daughter. I wanted to feel good about myself, feel sexy again, and I wanted to do it the right way.
I started to eat a clean diet and doing mostly cardio, but not throwing up after meals. After about a month I decided to get a trainer and started lifting a little heavier. I began surfing the internet for information on training and nutrition and was introduced to the world of figure competition. I decided I wanted to look like that.
I've been hitting the weights hard since and now with my wedding approaching in May, followed by my first show, it's really time to kick it into high gear!
Why I Love it
It makes me feel amazing about myself and my potential. Exercises and moves I may have attempted in the beginning and seemed absolutely impossible for me to be able to do, are now not so hard. I love seeing progress, whether it's visible in the mirror or just moving up weight. It's addicting!
