Growing up, I was involved in dance and sports. I have always lived an active lifestyle, but my eating habits were horrible. After I got married, moved, and went to college, I gained over 20 lbs. from lack of exercise and bad eating habits. In 2007, I weighted over 155 lbs. My self esteem was very low, I did not like to go out with my friends, have my picture taken, or go to the beach because I hated the way I looked. Eventually, I started to eat less portions during my meals and lost about 15 lbs. However, it wasn't until late 2012, when I started to hit the gym about 2-3 times a week. My workout routine during this time consisted of 40-60 mins cardio and light/body weight exercises. Though, I did lose weight, I did not gain much muscle or strength. I was one of those people who thought lifting heavy weights would make me manly. After not getting the results I was looking for, I decided to change my training. In late 2013, with the help of my CPT (aka husby) and Bodybuilding.com, I began to focus on eating clean and lifting heavier to build strength and gain muscle. AND BAAAMMM here I am!
The main reason I started becoming more active was because many of my family members, young and old, started having health issues due to being overweight and not exercising, and I was going down the same path as them. Since then, I decided I needed to take control of my health and live a lifestyle filled with weights and bars.
Since I started working out, I have not only lost weight and gained muscle, but my self esteem has improved a lot. I love being able to take control of my body and change it in ways I didn't even know I could before. By eating clean and working out, my body and mind has changed for the better. I love the challenge that comes with working out and I cannot wait to reach my overall goal.
