I joined Bodyspace because I feel I needed to reach out to a community of people who were like minded and could also help me achieve my goals. Through out my life I have ups and downs in relation to my body weight, fitness, and self image. In September of 2009 my daughter was born and around that same time I came to the realization that I had neglected my body to the point were I was not fitting in a size 38-40pants. In fact, I ripped a pair of pants at work while bending over. My coworkers laughed and joke and because I am a good sport I laughed with them. I am not one to be sensitive about my weight, but that experience was a wake up call that I really needed to get healthier or I would continue to go on a downward spiral. My doctor even expressed his concerns when I weight in at 225 on a 5'8" frame.
Around Feb of 2008 I joined a local gym and began changing my eating habits slightly, I worked hard to get down to 210. Finally one day, a client of mine that I hadn't spoken with in months came in and told me all about CrossFit. At first I was skeptical and thought it was just another fad. Finally after he continued to mention it a few other times we met, I decided to humor him by going to visit his local gym (BOX) he was at. On the way their I coached myself on telling them "No Thanks" as I readied my self for the hard sales pitch. What I found was a group of people who were all dedicated to competing amongst themselves as well as caring and motivating one another through their workouts. The members were all very welcoming and of course the workout was one of the hardest things I had ever done. To my relief, there was no sales pitch at all but an invitation to come back if I felt it was something I liked. To this day I continue at working out at the same CrossFit gym, CrossFit Infernal.
My goals are to lean up, I'm tired of being bulky. What I have found is that my old crappy eating habits still haunt me to this day. I have definitely improved on how I eat and what I am putting in my body, but one thing I lack is a person who is knowledgable about nutrition, diets and supplements. I hope to find to find and meet others like my self and those who can help me achieve my goals.
