Started as additional conditioning for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) as well as Muay Thai. When I began training a little over three years ago my weight was around 230 which was considerably less then what I was weighing when I separated from the Army in 2009. Within three month from separating I went from 218 to 245 which was the heaviest I had ever been. Once I decided to get back my life back on track (i.e get a job and move out of my parents house lol) I began exercising.
I always wanted to train in some type of martial art but with my new heavier weight I was scared to go into a gym and have my butt handed to me because I was so overweight. After about three months of exercising I dropped from 245 to 230. That's when I decided to take the plunge and try BJJ, figuring since I had lost a decent amount of weight I would be able to handle myself pretty well.... I was wrong! But fell in love with the art regardless!!
So three years and 55lbs later I am truly amazed by the transformation BJJ has on peoples lives.!
