I began experiencing several injuries at work because of repetitive motion, such as spinal stenosis, carpel tunnel syndrome, arthritis, herniated and bulging discs. The therapists began to set me up with exercise plans and warned me of further deterioration unless I strengthened my body. Along with the obvious aging and unattractiveness, I had very low self-esteem. I began to question the nutrition of foods I had become accustomed to. I began to adopt a clean eating lifestyle. I decided to do basic exercises in my basement with the free weights I've owned since my teens. I was doing basic exercises three days a week; complete body. Between eating adjustments and 4 months of consistency with the exercises, I was ready to try a gym membership out. It has lasted from November 2009 through the present. Before I started this exercise and clean-eating lifestyle, I had been warned by numerous physicians that I was a heart-attack just waiting to happen. My cholesterol peaked at 282, and my triglycerides at 547. Currently my Triglycerides are 38, and cholesterol is 131. This has truly been a bodybuilding transformation, from the inside out!
It has boosted my confidence level. It is hard to believe what making up your mind to exercise your body, and utilizing your will and discipline to eat clean can accomplish. You feel your youth return, especially for those of us over 40. Medicine for your sense of confidence and self-esteem! I want to LIVE till I die. I don't want die a slow 10-20 year death.
