I started working out to set an example for my kids. I always tell them you can do anything you put your mind too. I always help both my boys work out for football thru out the year and summer. I don't feel they do their best because I basically tell them what to do and not do anything myself. I made a promise to them if they do what I ask then I would start working out with them. Now at 38 I find myself working out for a specific goal. That goal is to be healthy and in good enough shape for an open tryout for an arena football team. Whether i make the team or not makes no difference. When January 1, 2014 gets here I will be 126 lbs lighter so I have already won. Going the distance and proving I can do this is all I want to accomplish.
I love working out because it's a great way to relieve stress. I love the way I feel when I work out hard. I feel like I have accomplished something. I really like the example I set for my kids when they see me come home from a 12 hour shift and work out hard whether its weightlifting, cardio, or hitting the bag.
