I used to do regular weight lifting (about 3 times a week) with my football team back in high school. After that, I stopped working out for several years. What got me started again (and I consider this to be my REAL start of bodybuilding/working) was seeing a very muscular guy in the circus. I got a chance to talk to him after the show and asked him how long it takes to get his body. He said that if I get a personal trainer and work out very hard for 1 year, I could get pretty close to that. So I got myself a personal trainer and started - and never stopped. I have by far not reached his physique - mainly because I did not invest enough time into working out - but I feel much better about myself now and have seen consistent results. Hence, I am still working out but without a personal trainer anymore.
I love it because of several things: Firstly, it makes me feel so much better about myself. It gives me more energy.
Secondly, I realized that through working out, I can get the physique of a real athlete. And I have always considered myself to be the athlete-type of guy. Working out gives me the chance to live up to this notion of myself.
And lastly, I consider it to be healthy. I am very concerned with my health. Granted, I only do natural workout routines.
