In college, I was roped into being a backspot for our all-girl cheer and dance squad. In order to "beef up" my lithe, ballet, upper body I started hitting the weights with my now husband! At first, I was embarrassed to lift with him, but now it's a huge part of our relationship. It's really hobby we enjoy together, and now our little girl joins us for her own tummy time workouts, while we lift.
My husband has always been into weight lifting and was an athlete his entire life, so when I wanted to strengthen up, I turned to him for advice. Now lifting is probably one of our favorite activities to do together. In fact, when we purchased our home, the first thing we bought was a cable/Olympic gym!
I just had my first baby in November of 2014. I lifted, hiked, and did yoga throughout pregnancy, until I was put on rest the last couple of weeks, due to preeclampsia. I only gained 22 pounds throughout and am not far from my pre-pregnancy weight!
