i actually used to be in extremely good shape. I was an avid basketball player in high school and a school record holder in track and field in high school and college... and then life hit me like a ton of bricks. got married and divorced, a few children and lots of overtime hours to keep myself employed. Stressed out all the time I started working out but I got injured and walked away from the gym. I didn't like the man I had become and had every excuse why working out just wasn't something for me. Too much time, too much money, too much of a commitment, my bones are too old and brittle from the damage I had done to it while i was younger... too much this and too much that.
An extra 45 pounds later, I started waking up with knee pain, back pain, my ankles cracking when I walked and realized I wasn't the same man I used to know. i am back at it to create a life change and not just a body change. This is more about recapturing the self confident, head held high dude everyone came to know when I was the captain of the track and field team.
i decided to start back again after reading a fitness magizene while standing in line at the supermarket... shaking my head the entire time wondering what had happened to me in such a short period of time.
A close friend of mine shared a picture of me from his wedding... 20 years ago. I was 195 lbs, dunk contest winner, could drive a golf ball 250 yeards with my 3 wood, and ran the 1500 in 4:30. Today I can barely get out o my carw ithout knee pain. This website is the start of reminding myself of who I was and can be again.
