I was always fascinated with weight training even before it became mainstream for females. Back in the Rachel McLish days, yes that does age me. I am in my 50's now and the first time I picked up a weight I was in my 30's and fell in love with it! I had already had 3 kids, and still had one after that. I became serious about lifting when I turned 32 after my last child was born. I got into excellent shape from lifting weights back then and saw amazing results. When my 40th birthday approached I stepped things up and really cleaned up my diet. I was down to 135 lbs, back to my prime weight and was in the best shape of my life. THEN iIn my mid 40's I started a high stress desk job. I was still working out but I started gaining weight and got up to 210lbs. I was miserable and hired a trainer, still only lost a few more pounds. I am down to 187 lbs as I write this on 6/1/2015, but I am a true fighter and believe I can get in the best shape of my life once again and stay there. I am studying to be a Holistic Nutrition Life Coach and working with a trainer, and totally changed my approach to nutrition. Everything I do today is intentional and on purpose. No more mindless life for this young lady.
I like the way weight training changes your body and how I feel after a good workout. I also love feeling strong.
I truly believe weight training has improved my health tremendously, the more I workout the better I feel. It gives me the energy to do all the other things and I am able to handle stress better. I hope to motivate others in my family and my friends who are struggling with their weight and health issues. We can can actually change our health destinies even if we have family history's that aren't that great. I want to be one an inspiration and and so it is!
