I've always been the smaller kid. However Ive been tough due to the fact I was involved in martial arts off and on since kindergarden. I was heavily addicted to drugs and weighted no more than 130 tops. I was tired of my younger brother being stronger than me along with the lifestyle I was living. I started working out and that helped tremendeously with my sobriety and self esteem. I also started gaining my weight back and noticed multiple positive effects due to weight lifting. I then started kickboxing and trained toward that as a goal and started having great success.
I believe that setting and accomplishing goals in the gym transfers to other areas of your life. Not only is it healthy for you but it gives you a sense of self confidence. It takes hard work and determination to transform your body and meet these goals but nothing feels better than when you do. Working out has benefited me in countless ways and I believe saved my life as it kept me out of the downward spiral of addiction.
