I've admired the figures of fitness models not the "skinny fat" girls of the runway all my life. Love the strength and confidence they reflect, and I do mean reflect, a positive role model should always be someone you can see yourself as being able to emulate their results. This is one of the goals I would like to accomplish - becoming a mentor and/or role model for others.
That being said I started out in college way back when it was uncool for women to "lift heavy" now its recognized that you can get a beautiful womanly physic by lifting and lifting heavy - go figure! Now dial up a few years, family raised, life threatening illnesses adverted and I'm back to what works and what has been proven to work time and time again. This is the "Fountain Of Youth" kid you not!
Since being diagnosed and beating cancer a few years ago. I've realized there's more I want to do, things I want to accomplish, and to do that I needed a lot of energy and strength to forge my own path. Health is not a thing to take lightly, you may think you can cheat it a little but it does eventually catch up with you. I feel strong and confident when I'm pushing weights and get a kick out of being able to push more weight than some of the young'uns. LOL! It's the sense of accomplishment that I can and will do better the next time and that I continue to progress towards my goals. So monthly goals are key to keeping me on track. Love that I can look back and see how far I've come. I've learned what works for me and the life style I feel my best at, and weightlifting and eating clean are the keys to that.
